Melbourne, Australia · two devs, one cozy codebase

Nikku & Rupert

A tiny Melbourne dev team building cozy, privacy-first apps — local-first, no accounts, encrypted backups, no tracking — with a lot of heart and a few too many snacks.

Rupert, a red panda boy, and Nikku, a fennec fox boy, coding side by side at their desks in a cozy late-night room, with an app architecture whiteboard behind them.

The team

Meet Rupert & Nikku

Two very different brains, one shared repo. Poke the portraits — they have opinions.

Rupert

Front-end · Design · Cozy UI

The optimist. Obsessed with tiny details — blinks, ear twitches, and buttons that feel good to press. Believes every app should feel like a warm room.

  • HTML / CSS / JS
  • SVG & animation
  • Retro UI

Nikku

Systems · Code · Builds

The skeptic. Sharpens the architecture, hunts bugs at 2 a.m., and won't ship until the tests pass. Secretly soft for a really good refactor.

Projects

What we're building

Small, focused apps that respect your data and your time.

In development

Rupert's Health Dash

A retro, 90s-console-style health and longevity companion with a friendly mascot — Rupert himself. It started with people over 50 in mind, but it's for everyone; we don't want to shoehorn anyone out.

Most health apps bury you in graphs, routines and endless options, so people never know where to start. Rupert keeps it simple: a welcoming home screen, small routines, and consistency over complexity — just enough to stay in basic shape.

  • Retro 90s feel
  • Local-first
  • No accounts
  • Android · iOS · Windows

Interested in helping out? Say hello — we're opening the project up to other developers.

On your device

Runs in your browser or app and saves right on your device. No account needed, and nothing leaves unless you choose to back it up.

Encrypted backup optional

Want a safety net? Optional online backup is locked on your device before it's uploaded, using four personal details only you hold, so our servers only hold scrambled data. Nobody else can read it, not even us. Everything also travels over HTTPS.

How to delete your data

You're always in control. If you've made an online backup, this is how to delete it from the app:

  1. Tap BRING BACK A PLAYER to download your data.
  2. Enter your four user details to fetch your data from the server.
  3. Tap the SETTINGS gear.
  4. Scroll to the bottom.
  5. In the CLOUD BACKUP section, find DELETE AN ONLINE BACKUP and tap DELETE.
  6. Re-enter your four user details and tap DELETE FOR GOOD.
Good to know
  • What's deleted. The locked backup on our server, which holds the player's readings, training log and settings. It's deleted straight away and can't be undone.
  • Devices keep their own copy. To remove the player from a device too, use DELETE THIS PLAYER in that device's settings, or uninstall the app.
  • Nothing is kept. Your details are only used to find the backup and prove it's yours. Nothing is downloaded or saved in your browser.
  • Lost your details? Without all four, nobody can find a backup, not even us. That's what keeps it private: a locked backup can't be read by anyone.

Rupert's Health Dash is not a medical device and doesn't give medical advice.

What we do

Small team, careful craft

Cozy web apps

Fast, friendly and installable. Plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript wherever that's enough.

Privacy by default

Local-first by default. Optional online backup is locked with details only you hold, so even we can't read your data.

Every platform

Android, iOS and Windows — whatever platform you're on, we don't mind.

Characters & motion

SVG mascots and small animations that make software feel alive.
